Porcelain
Lets break down what Porcelain is and why it’s a great alternative to Engineered stone
So what is Porcelain? Is it a tile?
Yup it’s a tile!
So why is it porcelain and not Ceramic?
Porcelain is made of better and more refined clay and when fired in the Kiln it’s done at high temps. This reduces imperfection, increases hardness and wear and tear which is why it’s a great Benchtop
Is it going to wear ok?
Yup, I think it holds up better to Wear and Tear than Engineered stone. It is a more brittle material though so Installation is really important.
Limitations
-If you do a 20mm benchtop the “biscuit” is exposed and may not be the look you are after
-DO NOT USE WITH UNDERMOUNT SINKS. The risk of a crack running from a chip is so likely it’s not a if, it’s a when
-Dependable on cost and brands, some patterns can be different colours in varying degrees. This can be really noticable on island benchtops with joins
