So you can’t duct your rangehood and need a recirculating rangehood?
So you’ve figured out or been told you need a recirculating rangehood, But why do you need one? It’s normally because you have no clear/easy/unsightly or cost effective way to duct the rangehood out the wall or the roof.
What is the difference between a rangehood and a recirculating rangehood?
Most rangehoods are designed to run ducting to the atmosphere (out a roof or a wall) and that’s how you get the smell/grease and oils out of your kitchen. If your have a recirculating rangehood, it’s running those smells back into your kitchen after going through a rangehood filter and then a charcoal filter
How do I know which rangehods can be recirculating
95% of rangehoods sold have a recirculating kit available for them, but finding model number or where to purchase them can be difficult. You can always ask a sales consultant at E & S Trading or Winnings who will absolutely find this for you, but if you did want to find it you will normally find the model number in the manual. Below are some pictures of where to look
Which one will do the best job?
This is now the important part and also not important part, I’ll explain..
As the rangehood is no longer being ducted outside we need the absolute best performance out of it, but as the rangehood is no longer blowing the fumes from cooking out of the house the performance isn’t as important.
So you can pretty much buy anything above 400 m3/hr and try to clean the Metal filter once a week. They are all that’s stopping your kitchen from getting sticky, greasy and discoloured once you forget/can’t be bothered to change the charcoal filter every 3 months.
